After yet another scorching hot summer when we were relying on our soft, minimal makeup routine, what could fall possibly have in store for us?
Well, listen to this. We’re about to turn away from the natural feminine look and do a complete 180. That’s right, the main theme for this fall is “cool and handsome.” How do we achieve this look? By using the recommended Japanese makeup products and following the Savvy beauty tips, of course! It’s now time to up your fall makeup game.
1. Bold Eyes
Eye makeup is the key to maximizing the trending “cool and handsome” fall theme. We’re talking volumizing mascara, eyeliner and colored eyeshadows to frame your eyes and get that “cool” look. Go for an easy-to-use, autumnal color palette like brown, khaki or bordeaux.

Beauty Tip:
We suggest going for a “color x color” combination palette such as “khaki x yellow” or “Bordeaux x dull pink.” Use one color for the eyelid and the other on the lower lash line, connecting it at the outer corner of the eye. The point, however, is to leave a gap in the inner corner of the eyes. This will stop you from making your eyes look smaller.
2. Bright, Naturally Thick Eyebrows
To complement the bold eye makeup, another key makeup point for this autumn is the brightness of the eyebrows. As the eye makeup is dark, the brightness of the eyebrows creates a sense of openness and balances the overall look.

Beauty Tip:
Natural, thick eyebrows are the way to go. If you can further mix and create parallel but slightly arched eyebrows, it will instantly give you a trendy look.
3. Semi-Matte Base
Semi-matte skin is trending as the base for this autumn and will likely continue through winter as well. This texture between matte and glossy will leave you with translucent skin and just the right amount of luster to enhance that cool and handsome look.

Beauty Tip:
A little goes a long way when applying a semi-matte foundation. If dry skin is a concern, add a thin layer of moisturizer before applying the semi-matte foundation. This will prevent dryness but still help you achieve that natural luster to the skin.
4. Autumnal Matte Cheek
Deep-colored blushes and nude blushes are in. For this autumn’s blush, use deep colors such as Bordeaux or terracotta for a mature finish or use a nude color like beige for a more modern look. The matte texture will give you a smooth, non-glossy finish.

Beauty Tip:
New to blushes? Start off lightly as you can always build it up. Apply the blush to the apple of your cheeks while also looking at your eye makeup to make sure everything is balanced out.
5. Deep, Dark Tone Lips
The trend for lips this fall is deep, dark tones. Think brown, plum and Bordeaux that add a touch of autumn to your makeup look. We’ve all heard at some point that if you’re going for statement eyes, you should keep the cheeks and lips neutral. Well, that’s no longer the case. In fact, for a modern finish, it’s actually better to emphasize the lips as well!

Beauty Tip:
The impression you give off can change greatly depending on how you apply your lipstick. First, we recommend a solid color matte or semi-matte lipstick. By applying your lipstick firmly, it gives off the cool and handsome vibe. Or add a bit of sexiness to your look by overlining the lips. Bonus points if you match your lip color to your blush color as it will further create a trendy look.
